Basil BBQ sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 onion
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 2 dried hot peppers
  • 2 fresh oregano leaves
  • 8 fresh basil leaves
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne
  • 2 tablespoon honey to taste Vinegar and oil

Directions

  1. To start, mix the onion, garlic and chilli together with the oil and vinegar.
  2. Then put in a saucepan and add the sugar, honey, salt, cayenne pepper and the basil leaves and oregano well crushed with a knife.
  3. Mix and simmer for about 3 minutes to reduce a bit.
  4. Then add the ketchup mix and leave another 5 minutes until the bubbles splash.
  5. Use it hot or let it cool. It can be refrigerated for up to 5 days.
